Do you need URGENT HELP in one of our computer labs? Call the IIT lab line at 416-946-HELP (4357).

Welcome

Information & Instructional Technology (IIT) manages bookable computer labs that are available for Arts & Science instructors to book for teaching and academic activities:

  1. Sidney Smith Hall - SS561 - 100 St. George Street - 49 workstations
  2. Carr Hall Lab - CR325 - 100 St. Joseph Street, Michael's College - 40 workstations

Hours: Classes can be booked between 9:00am to 9:00pm on weekdays Monday to Friday.

Student Drop-in use:  Students can use the labs for drop-in use outside of scheduled class times.

Technical Information

Logging in

All computers are accessed using a valid UTORid and password. To avoid login failures, we recommend to verify your loginLinks to an external site. first. If your login credentials don't work, try resetting your passwordLinks to an external site. For more help, contact us or the Information Commons helpdesk at 416-978-HELP (4357) / help.desk@utoronto.ca. 

Saving Data

Data is not saved locally on the computers, as they are shared space workstations. Instructors and students should use appropriate storage and/or a backup method (eg. secure USB key, OneDrive, email) to save work.

Software

Check the Lab Software page for a full listing of software currently installed in the labs. Contact us for questions or requests related to software installation. Please note that for software installation requests, we require advanced notice.

IIT Services

Classroom Support

IIT Client Services can assist instructors with onsite technical issues before or during class. Email us to request technical or teaching support in advance.

For urgent assistance in the lab, call 416-946-HELP (4357) or come to the IIT office in room SS572.

Lab Tours

For an introduction or refresher to the lab, we are happy to provide a tour of the space and equipment. During this time, we encourage you to test out any presenter tools or software that will be used in the class.

Weekly Lab Maintenance

Our technical staff perform weekly maintenance checks to ensure the lab equipment is in good operable condition. Please report any issues or safety hazards to IIT.
