Hello, and welcome to First-Year Computer Science Summer Prep!

In this website, you'll find five different modules we've designed to help you prepare for taking your first computer science courses at the University of Toronto this fall. Here's a brief overview of these modules:

Who Are We? Introducing the Department of Computer Science. This module covers some of the key information, people, and resources available to you at the Department of Computer Science. You'll learn more about enrolling in your first-year courses, who in the department to approach when you have questions, and some of the computer science groups and clubs you can join in your first year.
Mathematical fundamentals. This module provides resources for some math definitions, notation, and concepts that we've found students first need some time remembering when they start in the fall.
Computer fundamentals. This module provides resources for learning about some the concepts that you've probably heard about but might take for granted when you use your computers and other electronic devices in daily life. This includes working with files and folders, understanding the role of the operating system and computer hardware, and navigating and opening files on the command line.
Getting your computer ready. (To be released later in July) This module goes through installing the various pieces of software we'll be using in our first-year computer science courses. We'll be asking you to go through this module during the first week of class in September, so you can get a head start by doing this now!
Preview of CSC110. You can check out the CSC110/111 course notes here. This is the 'course textbook' that will be used for both CSC110 and CSC111.

To get started, click on "Modules" on the navigation bar on the left-hand side of your screen. These modules will be available throughout the summer and during the school year, so there's no rush in completing any of them. You can work through them in any order you like, and jump around and pause whenever you want.

To access the self-test quizzes, you must have a UTORid and be enrolled in this course. If you aren't enrolled, you can click on "Join This Course" on the top-right of this page, or visit https://q.utoronto.ca/enroll/96XL3N. (Note: your JOINid might work instead, we are looking into this.)
