Scenario 4- Mateo is 11 years old

In this scenario, you will be working through some possible responses to Mr. Rodriguez as he considers whether or not to have his son vaccinated. These responses are meant to help you reflect on the current evidence and vaccine recommendations in the pediatric population.

Mr. Rodriguez has questions about the COVID-19 vaccine for his 11 year old son, Mateo. Mr. Rodriguez tells you that he is not keen on the vaccine, but he had to get vaccinated because it is a work requirement. He confides that he and his partner are very anxious about whether or not they should get their youngest son, Mateo, vaccinated. The school Mateo attends recently had several students and a teacher test positive for COVID-19. Mr. Rodriguez worries that Mateo may get ill from the virus and disrupt his learning.
