Many diffent scales
Local, National, Regional, Global
Many Other Fields are "Historical"
Social Sciences
But also some Natural Sciences!
All can have some bearing on us
The Nature of Historical Knowledge- History is not like the natural sciences
We can't run Experiments
Causality
is very difficult to determine
We can't necessarily say
why
something happened, and that may not really be our goal
We learn about the past not as
facts
, but as a
resource for understanding ourselves and our world
.
